not all the charts are components of the Hot 100 yeah this is the main chart but that doesn't mean the other charts doesn't matter.

THESE ARE ALL OFFICIAL BILLBOARD MAGAZINE CHARTS (POP, COUNTRY, ROCK, ALTERNATIVE, HIP-HOP, DANCE, ETC)

and for examples people will say Carrie Underwood had 7 #1s on billboard country chart, Mary J. Blige had 9 on R&B chart, what's wrong with that?

It is very misleading for GaGa to say she has her sixth number one in America, because in reality that is not the case. I'm not saying that because Telephone isn't even number one yet... but when it does reach number 1on pop radio that should be stated as her sixth number one on pop radio in America, not her sixth number one in America.

I can't think of what chart she is referring to - it did go #1 on the canadian hot 100 airplay today but she specified america.

maybe they know already that she'll be #1 next week.. we didn't even know she is #3 this week

By saying sixth #1 then it is misleading, but it's not lying either, and at the end of the day it's just a marketing tactic to inflate the achievement and some artists do much worse so... oh well. It's not like her #1s are on the dance chart where everything goes #1, 5 #1s on pop is something few artists do in their career, nevermind from one album.

Just as long as you realise when she says "5 #1s" she isn't saying "5 #1s on the Hot 100" as you said in an earlier post

Yes, just like Bibliotheque says, I do agree that it's a bit misleading, but that's completely true, a #1 = #1, doesn't matter which Billboard chart is it.

It has been announced at the Grammys, Oprah, X Factor etc that she has 5 #1's (without mentioning which exactly chart is that). Why can't you admit that's true?

Yeah, that's what i was saying i put the examples...

it could be possibly 6 #1s for GaGa on Mainstream Top 40 / Pop Songs now...
7 #1s for Carrie U. in the Country chart
8 #1s for Linkin Park in Alternative Songs / Modern Rock
etc...

#1s on these charts not in America, easy to understand but some people are claiming these charts worth ****.

I just said that when someone says that, everyone thinks on the Hot 100 cause it's the only chart that matters worldwide. When the UWC is posted, they don't look at the pop US charts.

I agree that it is an impressive achievement, especially seeing as these number 1's are going to be consecutive... But to me it as a lie if it is stated that is her Sixth number 1 single. What Kirill said is simply not true.

#1 single = #1 single = #1 single on any chart

a #1 = a #1

you could say a certain type of #1 > a different type of #1

but a #1 = a #1
