But I thought she was "the most important female artist ever!", "the biggest selling female artist ever!", etc. But in the article she's been reduced to the same level as Britney, Avril, and Xtina.

Did I see a Janet stan in here say Madonna isn't talented? Talent wise they're equally matched tbh. They both can barely sing, both has written and produced some amazing work. Both have directed they're own musical video projects multiple times. Both are dancers although it's clear Janet is superior. Both have inspired generations. I'm lost. If Madonna isn't talented on what grounds is Janet talented? It's not like either play live instruments in the studio or on stage. Well Madge TRIES to play guitar. Also.....they both have acted in movies...although Janet has probably showed more talent in that department. But overall them hoes equal. No shade because I stan down for both the ladies. But I think Madonna has outlasted her peers due to following trends more than the others did. Prince, Janet and Michael and Whitney didn't really jump on specific genre trends based on what was current and hot. They stayed in they're genre element while expanding they're sound. They didn't completely go EDM just to fit in with a younger crowd. But also to be fair Madonnna has been constantly consistent out of her peers to. Ehh.

She isn't. An article calling her a pop icon doesn't mean she has impact here. I mean, if she had impact here, they'd call her a "legend". But they didn't. So what does that tell you?

There is no video of Janet performing in Brazil because she had to cancel due to scheduling conflicts. As Chimier pointed out to you, she would not have scheduled a date in Brazil if there was no demand for her. Madonna, on the other hand, couldn't even schedule a date in Africa, because no one wants her here.

That tells me Madonna has impact enough to be considered at least an icon. To have impact you have to be known. Therefore she's known in Africa. Therefore you've been lying about Madonna being irrelevant there. Therefore the global queen of pop won.

OK let's break it down. What is Madonna known for in 90% of the world? Music, right? So when we say "Madonna isn't known here", it's based on the fact that no one knows her MUSIC, the #1 thing that she's popular for in the rest of the world. So there is ZERO difference. What is this thread on? Her success. In what? MUSIC, right? So again, what does the statement "Madonna isn't known here" based upon? That's right. MU-SIC. You tried, though.

But she did, hence why she has at least booked a show there. Oh dear.
Madonna has never had the opportunity to book, let alone cancel, a show in any African country because no one knows who she is. They don't listen to her music. It's really not that deep.

(2016) Prince was entering retirement legend status/deceased --> Madonna again ended an era with one of the HIGHEST grossing tours of the year.
(2012) Whitney going through drug addiction and not well received comeback/deceased --> Madonna set a new record for the most views in television history while performing at the Superbowl.
(2016) Janet cancels Unbreakable tour TWICE --> Madonna gets rave reviews for highly successful RHT.
(2016) Mariah Carey set up residency in Las Vegas to lukewarm reception & reviews --> Madonna sets new RECORD touring in Australia & Asia continents.
If that's not the definition of OUTLASTING her peers, then I don't know what is.

Madonna outlasted Whitney and Prince, because like many on this planet, she outlived them. She outlasted Mariah, because Mariah debuted after her. Janet had a #1 album last year and she's pregnant right now, but will resume touring next year. And you still aren't using outlast correctly. I'm done painting this picture for you. You're on your own now.
