MJ's career spanned almost 40 years. That's longer than Madonna's. And even in death, he's STILL popular. She outlived him, not outlasted him. Prince? Career was 40 years. Longer than Madonna. Mariah is still going, and is still performing music. Same with Celine, who is selling more records than Madonna and doing absolutely killer numbers with her shows. Janet? Still making music, still doing (or was doing) shows. Perhaps the only person you can say Madonna "outlasted" was Whitney...and not even that, because Whitney's records are STILL selling. None of these people actually faded into obscurity. If they did, then you all would have a point.

And it has everything to do with this. This is about MADONNA. Not Janet. Success happens in COUNTRIES/CONTINENTS. It doesn't happen in thin air.

Madonna's lack of success in an entire continent has everything to do with her outlasting or not outlasting her peers. Because if they have been able to maintain some kind of success in more places, then she hasn't outlasted them.
