Pls, everyone who can take a joke and read about USG knows it's not a serious song. No one finds it offensive except people who want to be offended or act like they are because they do not like Katy.
Speaking as a POC, cultural appropriation doesn't offend me and I've yet to meet a single POC who complained to me about it. Can you speak as a poc, collin?
Not sure what tiny crevice of a reality you live in, but tons of POC are passionate about this, so you using my whiteness to disregard that adds fuel to the fire and worsens the issue.
I mean I've read on Tumblr that learning Spanish is cultural appropriation The depths of human stupidity are truly unfathomable, especially when it comes to that site.
But then again, you'd be pretty dumb not to look into the matter carefully and educate yourself on why cultural appropriation is a bad thing.
What collin said was pretty spot on and it's not like there aren't a bunch of examples on why it's really harmful.
You know what is more offensive? Targeting a cocaine addicted indie artist for oppression instead of the American government that is responsible for the largest, longest and the most fledged out genocide in history that is still not acknowledged by anybody. But no, taking down this vile Lana woman means so much more than lets say allowing the most popular sports group to be named RED SKINS and have an Indian chief in a headdress as their logo. I personally feel offended by this stupidity.
Because that's the kind of discussion that happens on ATRL. I couldn't agree with you more on this one. Take the stick out your ass now.

I grew up with fellow poc. You know them through a website. I win

So does that mean that you're not allowed to battle the lesser evil first? There can be no progress unless you tackle the biggest issue first?
In reality, it works opposite of that. The only way to dismantle* racism would be to tear it down piece by piece, not all at once.
I'm just thankful my experiences in life have opened my eyes to the kinds of things that can really hurt someone when not turned a blind eye on. Seems like some of y'all (apparently POC, lmao; if this is a joke btw, you're a piece of ****) just haven't seen the power of it. Also, I don't use Tumblr.
Starstrucks people and ancestors have been oppressing mine for centuries and they stole lands from us they refuse to acknowledge as ours and return them as recent as early 20th century. White people exist outside of Murica and west Europe. This white privilege is a thing only there
I'm a POC and I "suffer" from cultural appropriation and I struggle more from homophobia than you do. A white person cannot ****ing tell me what offends me or not. I don't give a **** if some person from another country is interested in our culture, if anything it makes me flattered.
Were you offended when Beyonce wore indian getup? If not get on my team
um yeah, and she got her deserved lashings. I'm not gonna sit there and defend that mess. although we COULD go into a tangent about is she was overly targeted in coldplays commodification of Indian culture and the whole thing is wasn't on her (misogyny!!)

Good for you.
Millions of people do not feel as recklessly careless as you do on the matter.
