P!nk was good with You + Me (the folk album), but she couldn't do that on a mainstream scale cause I'm sure she's concerned with commercial performance. I think at some point, you have to let go of the commercial security and start to look into more interesting things. Especially when you've been in the game for 15+ years.
Madonna is one example. She has so much to say about age discrimination, but that doesn't reflect in her work. Instead she's overtly chasing "youthful" sounds and looks. When 3 albums ago with Hard Candy, she was so much more mature in her sound than she is now. It's like, you're a legend, sis. Breathe a little and do music that's meaningful to you. No one wants to hear Bitch, I'm Madonna (except low brow homosexuals).
