I think of children as "normal" things or the average or regular type of thing. In the world of Pokemon, I think humans and "children"/kids would fall in the category normal or the "outside" of Pokemon magicality. I'm not too bothered by its Normal-typing, and I aint sure I'd use it as an argument 4 Dun Dun Dun...farce -> Grampa
Its relationshp with every day livings and practices is also telling. A Normal Tea, a Normalcy
But ur right it's tricky because Normal aint something obvious like Kween Water or Empress Grass
