No one is musically relevant when they're not putting out music. Like, that's the point of a break. All it'll take is a good song and the hype machine and everything will be back on track.
And yes, previous acclaim means a lot, especially to the public. There's a reason the amount of Grammys, Oscars, Emmys, etc. an entertain has won is always mentioned when they're introduced. Those things hold a lot of clout.
At the end of the day, the only people caring about how long a popstar puts out a record are the fans. The only thing that'll hurt her is if the lead is bad or doesn't connect. It could happen but we can't say for sure.
