I was listening to Sky Fits Heaven the other day (as I'm wont to do) and I remembered a woman from a previous forum I was on. She's been a fan for a very long time. The Queen to dabunique's Queen. Anyway, she said she remembered when Ray Of Light came out and she watched Madonna on Oprah saying her best stuff was on the new album and she was so uninformed and selfish 'back then' and that she didn't want to sing the old songs because they felt like five lifetimes ago and she couldn't identify with that person. And she said that while she loved Ray Of Light, she had it on her dresser afterward and just looked at it and thought, "we're never going to get fun, frothy, throwaway music from Madonna ever again, are we?"
True Blue would be so much better if she had put any thought into the sequencing of the tracklist at all. For the longest time I hated Where's The Party purely because it sounded so bad and out of place right after Live To Tell. And JJ/LMTWGR are less offensive if they are somewhere in the middle and not the last impressions of the album.
