Are we not all humans? Should white people just not pay attention to black culture?
Music is all about being influenced by different factors. I think anyone is allowed to be inspired and influenced by anything.....we should be celebrating all cultures together, not putting up walls around specific ones and only saying it's okay for a specific demographic to partake.

We're all humans (duh) but that's irrelevant because we are treated differently by race. That's what the point is. No one is really saying that white people should restrict themselves from black culture or that races own cultures. However, certain cultural aspects obviously have their origins and in our society, black culture has for the most part been ignored unless white people took practice in it.
What people are really saying is that if you're going to superficially dip yourself into something that black people have been doing historically and continue to do till this day - all while succeeding and receiving praise for it while black people who might do the same thing get no recognition, at least have the decency to notice and acknowledge that issue and speak out against it. Justin Timberlake doesn't do that, so he's guilty of taking advantage of his privilege.

I don't understand how people are always saying their culture, their identity, their whatever is being stolen/appropriated and then you turn around and see them imitate certain aspects of other cultures. Like at this point, every culture borrows and celebrates other cultures. Black people are literally the ones who seem to be the most sensitive about everything.

Agreed. These type of black ppl, or other ppl of a minority, the #staywoke kind, the ones who criticize every single thing white ppl do, the ones who constantly use blackness and melanin in their vocabulary, the tumblr types; all they are doing is seperating themselves and creating more barriers between themselves and the privileged instead of actually trying to aim for equality, it's like they want to continue having unequal treatment in order to have the platform complain on. I'm black and realize the difficulties that comes with being black and the undeserved treatment we receive, but at this point... these other types of my race are just doing way too much and trivializing the matter at the end of the day.

the problem been what it's always been they love black culture, but not black people.
they want to use black writers, black producers.. yet when their are black issues ..they are silent bystanders.
the people who say they see nothing wrong are in heavy denial. how is he going to feel inspired by a speech about the struggle of black people in america..and then in a reply tweet it with an we are all the same mess.
And that to a tweet he could've easily ignored or addressed the Janet situation instead of walking in the trap.
so in other words he did NOT under stand what jesse was saying and just thought it was cool to hop on twitter and pretend to be "down" for the people that had a HEAVY hand in his solo career.
what is even more hilarious is talking about music shouldn't be segregated .. L O and L... black RnB artists can't get a spin on pop or hot ac if they sold a kidney for it.
Urban has no problem playing Justin (both of them), adele, iggy etc.
It's easy to turn your nose up at all of this when you are on the privileged side of the conversation.

Can yall ****ing STOP insulting each other's races? Just STOP. It doesn't solve anything, this is not a goddamn competition! Nothing sets me off more than seeing MINORITIES bitching and whining and throwing stones at each other over which one of us has it worse, or which one of us is "better" when in reality we're all complete and utter trash in the eyes of most white people. If you're in here using your race, or anyone else's, as a way to pass judgement on another race, while propping up your own, you seriously need to do better.
That's EXACTLY what racist white people in power want. They want us to argue amongst ourselves and fight for the title of "best, most successful minority race" because it means that we're not working together against them. It means we're not working together to change the status quo that has them sitting at the top of the totem pole and ALL OF US clawing away at each other at the very BOTTOM. Stop letting them have the satisfaction. You're only hurting yourselves more. It's ****ing ridiculous.
No one race is better than another, we are all victims of circumstance and our euro-centric society. I don't give a damn if Asians are more "respected" because they make more money than blacks or latinos or because they are more successful in the tech field or because they're quiet and don't complain about anything. I don't care if black people are more "respected" in the entertainment field just because we have more acting awards than Asians. I don't care if black rights groups like BLM dominate the media over another racial rights group, when we still get murdered ad nauseam, with no consequence. Stop arguing over this stupid pointless, trivial ******** like it actually means something in the grand scheme of things.
At the end of the day, we're all minorities. Racist, powerful white people don't give a F*** about ANY of us. They will bury all of us given the chance, it doesn't matter how high your race's SAT scores are, or how much influence your race's culture has on music and entertainment. Stop fighting each other and turn your attention toward the real problem.
