I agree, this is also why I'm campaigning for the abolition of elections. The majority spoke, we've elected the Tories and we must live with that decision for eternity regardless of changing circumstances and what the new majority of the country think.
It's also why this referendum is irrelevant. We already voted 75% to remain in Europe in 1975, it's disgusting that the establishment forced us to vote on the issue again yesterday. Whilst we're at it scrap the Welsh parliament, they voted No in 1979.

Completely agree with you, although I voted leave, elections and referendums are what make this country democratic, but if you want to change the majority's decision then what's the point of even being a democracy?

How can you vote leave and then say that the majority's decision shouldn't be changed? Aren't you happy that democracy has allowed you to leave the EU?

I would agree with you if we had a majority 'Yes' vote in the referendum, therefore making us independent, but that was not the case and we're in this together as an entire country, even if we have some differing politics.
If you believe that then London too should have its own referendum too, right? Seeing as so many voted remain.

If London want a referendum then give it to them, same with Northern Ireland.

People in Scotland voted to stay assuming they would remain a part of the EU. Now they feel that their voice is not being heard and another independence referendum is more than fair.

As I said I am happy with the decision, but this is first and foremost a democratic country, based on the people's opinions, and that is something that shouldn't be changed.
Although the original process of us becoming an EU member was confusing and we were lied to, so I wouldn't call that completely democratic anyway.

But that's just not how it works anymore. We are not four separate kingdoms, the Acts of Union changed us from being separate states to being one entity. Scotland have already had their say on independence, although an Irish referendum would be suitable.
But you can't just re-do referendums over and over because some things change, it defeats their whole purpose.

Welp
You guys really did set yourselves up for this when you gave Cameron and his elitist friends the keys to the country.
I guess evil really did win today.

This is ****ing balls. Bring on Scotland's second referendum, our country voted to remain yet we're being dragged out cause England and Wales voted to go. Ridiculous, hope all the 'no' voters from 2014 are pleased, our countries voice is ****ing useless because of it.

The baby boomers destroyed our economy.
The baby boomers are still setting us back with racism, LGBT and migrant hate.
The baby boomers destroyed our planet and it's natural resources, global warming etc...

People that voted Leave think of multiculturalism, feminism, the Green movement as forces for ill.

Obviously the US is a major economy and France is a major EU member, but why no African or South Asian countries?
Since the UK which could soon be just England+Wales, does it really have a valid place?
|
The permanent members were the leading victorious powers in WWII. India and South Africa did not play a major role in it as much as those five countries. I doubt the five countries would vote to get India in and the UK out just like that (especially the UK itself being in there). If anything, I think Germany and Japan should be considered more for that position. But then again, who knows. Asia Century is coming though.

Of course an Irish referendum is appropriate. Though I think N.I. is screwed either way considering the economy in the Republic is a shambles too.

The most irritating thing is that the elderly won this vote but they aren't going to have to deal with the fall out of this entire mess.
Another f**k you from the baby boomers.
