So, I'm getting back into Pokémon Red. Right now, I'm training in the Rock Tunnel. I added Paras to my team (thanks AMIT for the suggestion), but Paras is kind of tragic. It only knows Scratch, Leech Life, and Stun Spore, and it doesn't learn it's next move until 30, which is Spore. It'll learn Slash at 37, and it doesn't even learn Mega Drain, which means I need to wait until I beat Erica to get the TM. I wanted to challenge myself, but I might give up on poor Paras.
I don't know what I'll fill my team with though. If Scyther didn't come so late, I pick it. Right now, I have Charmeleon, Hypno, Gyarados (I might replace it with Vaporeon), and Nidoking. And I'll probably add Snorlax once I catch it.

True and I actually love split evos. I think it would be cool if they introduced Darmanitan's forms as split evos in future generations instead.

Use Bellsprout/Weepinbell/Victreebel. It has high attack and special attack, so you can get the most out of poison type and grass type moves.

Isn't shadow tag unban now because of the update in gen 6 where ghost pokemon can switch out and u turn and volt switch as well

No, Shadow tag is still banned in OU for showdown, I just tested it. Probably the same for the other tiers as well.

I'm playing Red, so I can't. I can pick Oddish, I guess. I'm hesitant because Nidoking is half-Poison, which sucks for defensive typing, but nobody uses Nidoking for offensive moves like Poison Sting or Toxic.

I guess we still have a small strand of hope for visiting Kalos in SM. But would the man who couldn't even put a proper post game in ORAS really give us a reproportioned Kalos with new gyms too?
