What a ridiculous argument. Somehow, there is semi-automatic and automatic guns designed to kill DOZENS of people in mere seconds being sold to common people. These guns do not belong in the hands of civilians, they are military guns and were designed with the intent to slaughter humans at a large scale.

I don't think ANY guns belong in the hands of civilians. Yea, majority of people are "law abiding citizens" but someone can be a "good person" today, then become a bad person tomorrow and shoot someone.

I agree. And the thing that kills me is that you can't just make the argument that the human spirit will urge people to kill with or without guns... That is most certainly true. But why should we use that to ignore the fact that semi-automatic and automatic guns make it a hell of a lot easier for a person to wipe out dozens out of people?

I love how conservatives don't think like this when it comes to abortion. They don't think, "Well, whether it's legal or not, abortion is a sin that comes from the human spirit and will happen regardless." Hell no, they fight to try to abolish it.

I don't have a problem with licensed hunters having a gun imho (this would need to be regulated though, which I don't see happening). But I don't really think they should be in civilian use besides that.

It makes sense from a "defense" standpoint like if you're living in rural nowhere and someone is burgling your home or raping your wife. Police would take 30 minutes at least to get to you. A shotgun is much quicker, or at least the threat of one.

But at this point, it's more like: everyone has a gun, so I need one, or else I'm ****ed if someone with a gun comes at me.

And then throw in people who think they can stop ISIS with an AR-15 single-handedly, and the people who really innocently collect them and play with them in sport.

I personally will own a gun when I am older and have a place to myself. It would literally only be in the case of someone breaking into my place and so I could defend myself most effectively. I don't see the argument for being able to carry your gun everywhere you go.
