I agree, maybe there are people who are offended by that word, but some aren't, if someone calls you out for it, then just change it and learn not to use it around them anymore.
worst thing is that some words, at least in my country are taken out of context, the "n" word, for example is used as "friend" here, and I think mainstream/urban music is the one to blame.
I've heard a lot of young people use it.
