I think it's because they are not just using the same producers, it's more of a problem of many producers getting together and creating songs for all of the artists at the same time. SM's producers literally hold some type of a camp and create songs at that time, I can't.
But I don't really think it's that bad, every group still has its sound, it might not be that much distinct lately but the same can be applied to the music industry as a whole.

EXO are not breaking their first day record but maybe if someone leaks an info about some fansign...Though I think SFY sold that much on its first day because of shipments which were faster than now.
