Hillary already had her superdelegate support lined up before the primary started, cause it was assumed she'd be unchallenged. Bernie has challenged her; take the superdelegates away and the race is much closer. Without the superdelegates the Democrats would probably have a contested convention.

If you took away the superdelegates, it'd be literally mathematically impossible to have a contested convention with only two candidates in the race. One of the candidates would win more pledged delegates than the other (a majority) and that candidate then becomes the nominee.
If we took superdelegates out of the 2016 race, Hillary would reach the majority of pledged delegates once the California votes come in and she'd officially become the nominee tonight. As weird as it sounds, superdelegates (although they are on Hillary's side) are the only reason why Bernie could still stay in the race until the convention.
