Yeah what totally altered head? the exact same shape with a new color and then Ash's wig? Yeah totally altered... The torso changed color to match Ash's... which is what I basically said it'll be. The thing on it's back, yeah, it exists in the anime. But you said yourself not everything from the anime makes it into the games (I'll get to Zygarde forms in a minute). There's obviously design limitations and just changing the color would fix that.
Also don't use Zygarde forms as an argument yet. They've appeared literally everywhere. They may still appear in Sun and Moon. Wouldn't be the first time alternate forms appeared after the original game.
