They actually left a lot of mega's secret for XY that weren't discovered until people had the game. ORAS revealed all of them before release though.
You're right, I'm thinking more of ORAS.
I'm trying to remember how many new Pokémon we knew before XY came out. I feel like it was almost half. Which reminds me, I hope we get more than 70 new Pokémon this time. XY definitely went for quality over quantity with new mons, which I appreciate, but that was nullified with the overly-massive Pokédex.
I'm having a really hard time picking my team in Black 2 because I love the dex so much. But I'm about to challenge Roxie and the ones I know I'm keeping:
