The artpop era should be renamed to abortion era. Seriously looking back, what the hell, why did she not even release the dwuw video? That was such a stupid move, she should have just pulled edge of glory and made some cheap video.

While true, that wasn't entirely the issue. She just didn't SEEM as big as she used to be. Coupled with the whole Katy/Gaga thing, most reporters couldn't even tell you where ARTPOP charted on the billboard 200, or where Applause peaked, and how much it sold, but they would be able to tell you that it wasn't that great of an era considering how over it was before it even began.

Can we all agree that the ARTPOP era flopping didn't have anything to do with the quality of the music tho?
It was mainly the breakup with Troy and the second single mishap that cause the era to spiral out of control
The first thing I'd do if time travel was finally invented is going back to August 2013 and handing Gaga a new plan for the era lmao

I agree. People didn't seriously give the album enough of a chance to be deemed as a flop because of the music.

DWUW had a huge chance of becoming a hit if only she stuck with it after the holidays and released a video.

if we look at the charts, we can see that quality is clearly not something that contributes to the success of a song. for whatever reason, artpop just wasn't meant to do anything. everything that could have went wrong did go wrong, and it just a mess after a mess after a mess.

and that's exactly why i always say that artpop is in no way indicative of gaga and/or her team. it was a mess up, a fluke, and something they've learned and moved on from.

ARTPOP as an album just doesn't hold up well. DWUW and possibly Gypsy (even if I don't like the song) were the only things that could've built momentum for an era. She had weak direction too, trying to make Venus happen was a lil embarrassing. A #charmbracelet moment

I feel like for LG5's lead's gonna be like a happier version of MTN (anthemish) or a straight up dance funk song

Well yeah it wouldnt have BTW sized sales anyway but it could have easily sold 3m or more with a decent era

can we all be honest for a moment and admit that artrave looks are totally hideous. Gaga was fat for the most part and her clothes are tacky as hell. That applause/ bad romance look was just disgusting. And don't even remind me of her public nudity on stage.

I'm hopeful for LG5 tho, she needs to serve class and fashion

What's worse is that the media backlash has influenced even us her fans... Whenever I think of ARTPOP the first thing which crosses my mind is the fact that it's average and stuff, but when I listen to it I remember that's actually very good and I really bop to it so hard. If ARTPOP had a proper era, everything would have been better. She seemed to just neglect and forget everything about it. Hopefully she pays all her attention to LG5 from now on. We truly deserve a well organised era.

I wonder how she made it through, all that hate and destruction. Yet she's now here, happier than ever and I'm so ambitious when it comes to LG5... I wasn't very fond of the inflated stage either
She had indeed gained a lot of weight though.
Some of the looks were good but that octapus thing or the look of BR and Applause as you mentioned, those two were totally terrible

I know a few of y'all INSIST Dope vocals were intentional as #creativerebellion to her label, but actually I think that BR/Swine outfit was intentional. BR was always performed in a more couture* look on her past tour (white/silver) and her with that ugly rainbow raver outfit was there to f*** it up. Plus the intro to it making it sound sarcastic

And yeah the looks were bad aside from the Green hair and latex one. Inflatable fashion had potential

Personally I liked the ArtRave more than BTW ball.
It wasn't perfect (i didn't like the nude part for example) but at least she gave it all in every performance and she didn't even have 1 bad performance in the whole tour! On BTW ball she would get tired and some performances were freaking HORRIBLE.

Honestly I think that people made a big deal of the 'Artpop' underperforming sales because Gaga until then has always delivered huge numbers, but 'ARTPOP' numbers are definitely great, especially compared to actual numbers and she didn't even benefit from 'streams' and considering also the messy situation in general.

I remember that 'Artpop' was doing a great number on Spotify (for the time).

2 million copies for an album is far away to be a flop, and 'Applause' and 'DWUW' reached the top10 in the most important markets more or less.

By the way, for sure her popularity especially outside U.S. has declined, most of European gp don't even know about the jazz era, but it's not a big deal, people still remember her name.
Her impact was too big, they just need a memory refresh.
Here in Italy I still heard her songs often at the radios, tv shows, talent shows and music videos on MTV, even the ARTPOP ones.
She is far away to be forgotten.
