BTW is an odd album... as a GaGa stan, I wanted to love it, but I didn't, and still don't. It wasn't her worst album, but also not great. The first two singles (BTW and Judas) were great, and then TEOG happened, and wow that song was so underwhelming for me. Common four chord, boring song that did nothing for me. YAI was better, and MTN is still my favorite, but as for the rest of the album... the ones I like are Hair, Scheiße, HML and EC, and literally none of the rest. The highs were higher than her other albums (MTN>>>>>>>>>anything on ARTPOP), but the lows were seriously low (FOHL is embarrassingly bad, especially that key change

). Heck, I might as well give my reviews for all of her albums to date now, 'cause why not?

When it first came out it sounded very un-popish and un-Gaga-ish to me so I didn't really appreciate it since that was what I expected. All I can remember though is my 11-year-old self listening to Born This Way and feeling happy that there was someone out there who approved of homosexuality and our differences in general as humans. There was someone out there who would unconditionally love me. I mean that's so important for a little kid isn't it? What's more spectacular though, is that this album doesn't only sound timeless, but it has helped countless people and teenagers finding themselves as well. That's more important than numbers, charts, awards etc. That's what music is all about and Gaga has never stopped proving it.

I wouldn't say it's a complete masterpiece simply bc I personally cannot stand Fashion of His Love and Americano/Judas are kinda fillers (even tho the latter KNOCKS), but it truly doesn't get enough credit for how experimental and forward thinking it is. It's an incredibly strong piece of art and not everyone can say they make anything comparable.

I mean both covers are ugly and I would've preferred something else but I also enjoy how much they offend peoples sense of taste. She was the biggest pop star in the world and its like both covers are this big **** you to everyone. In the most surface level ways she can be kind of punk in glimpses (although I use that term in reference to Gaga incredibly loosely).

This album/era alienated me from being the hardcore Monster I once was, but I'm glad it happened. It has its gems and Born This Way is great for the gay community

Reinvention

Born This Way is such a tremendous record - she really managed to outdo herself at a time it seemed impossible. Her image was not GP friendly, but that's hardly a bad thing. Pandering to mass appeal is only cute for so long, the only downside to Gaga's decline in fame might be the budget for promo and her work, but I believe she'll be back for LG5.

I don't really think ARTPOP will ever be looked back on too fondly, it's a good record, but it's not great BTW is.

I thought it was hilarious but I loved it. The only thing that made me sad is the cover made me think we were gonna get a Gaga/Motorcycle hybrid in a music video for Highway Unicorn.

Why doesn't she talk about it? Because she already got what she wanted. The LGBT community behind her.
