I was 18 back in the days.
Can you imagine how ****ing terrible It is to fall in love again, knowing you have to tell that person that you're HIV+?
When to say It? Waiting for them to fall in love too and piss them off? Or telling It from the very first date and get the boot before the dessert or the movie is over?
How will they react?
How will your mom and dad react?
Should I tell anyone? Will someone ever be able to truly love me?
Those are just a few questions that controlled my daily life for like a year after I got It.
It is pure hell in the beginning.
What It could do to your body, physically, is mostly a topic later in the process.

This is very heartbreaking. Honestly, I think one of the biggest things affecting people with HIV is the stigma that surrounds it. Not only that, so many people don't want to talk about it because of the stigma. That's a serious problem, IMO. I mean, I get why people with HIV don't want to talk about it, but at the end of the day, if people stopped spreading false information about HIV and actually knew what it was and how it spreads, we probably would see a lot less numbers. Yes, condoms are great, but knowledge is always better. A lot of people don't want to get tested because they don't want to know so they don't have to go through what you and countless others went through. THAT is the problem. We keep ignoring the real issue and just keep putting a "bandaid" on it. Like I said, condoms will help decrease your chance of infection, but actually having the knowledge about HIV will do you so much better in the long run. It's really sad to see a lot of these questions that are asked. Don't get me wrong, I love this thread and I love that it IS being discussed, but anyone in this thread that is sexually active should already know! I don't totally blame them though, our education system is also failing us on the matter as well.
