I can't believe some of y'all are still against this song as a single. It's obvious that radio is really into this song. (As I had a feeling they would be - there's always a few fairly basic but still catchy EDM-lite songs like this that do well on pop radio every year.) The issue is that they just need to do something to give them a reason to keep playing the song - if the iTunes/streaming numbers continue to lag, radio will be forced to drop it eventually. So far, the only thing lined up is the carpool karaoke thing in late June. Hopefully they have the sense to have it air on a Thursday (the show runs Monday-Thursday), that way the effect will cover an entire tracking week. I think it would also be smart to premiere the video the day after it airs, which would be a Friday ideally. That way they could even promote the video release along with the song on the show. However, while this is great promo, it's not for another month, which is not acceptable if they want this single to succeed. I think many in here are being over dramatic in terms of saying that radio might drop this any day now, but the reality is that radio will likely have dropped it by the time the carpool karaoke promo rolls around if nothing is done between now and then. Personally, I'd love to see the following promo roll out.
May 27: Single cover release via Instagram, Twitter etc. AND begin running a high profile ad with the song playing in the background (to be played regularly throughout the single's run on TV & online)
June 3: Lyric video release
June 10: Music video still/first look
June 17: Music video teaser + begin regularly announcing her appearance on the James Corden show
June 23: Late Late Show with James Corden/Carpool Karaoke segment
June 24: Music Video release AND song/album discount to commemorate 1 year of Revival era (Good For You was released June 22, 2015); both announced/promoted the night before on the show
I realize she herself isn't gonna go out of her way to promote, but I don't think any of this is too much to ask. Plus, it's mostly her team that would be doing the work with these things, and they're pretty easy things anyways. (Sorry for the essay by the way, I just really love this song and want it to do well.)
