I almost never focus on stresses in my entries.

We're gonna cover this more in depth soon. We're cooking something up

My meter has become so much worse since season 7. Like, I had such a good grasp of it then, and now I write less, I find it more difficult to adhere to meter sometimes.

Yeah, I've been doing a little research on meter today and I am sorta understanding it a bit more but could use a better breakdown on it

I feel like i'm getting a better grasp of meter but sometimes I wonder if I just get lucky. I would love to learn more about stressing though, I think that is something that I could work on.

When you're playing platinum hit there is basically two ways to play: writing songs in the hope that you love them, or writing songs in the hope that the judges love them. Obviously, the two can be intertwined, but one always has to outweigh the other. What's more important to you, making yourself happy or making the judges happy?

Ariana is exactly the kind of artist I do not want to be. She wears all these different hats, yet still has not found her specific style. I feel like most of her songs could have gone to anybody and that's not how I'd like to be defined. When I listened to Dangerous Woman, it was like literally listening to five different albums in one. What purpose does that serve? I feel like this is probably around the time I'd burn out, because my head would be spinning from the inability to focus on a specific subject matter or genre or style. I'd rather be perfect at 1 craft then whatever at 20.

At the beginning of the challenge, I was wanting to meet requirements for the challenge, so you could say the judges. However, I think writing my song allowed me to express a side of myself I never talk about, that being my desire to be a parent, so I ended up writing for myself.
I'm really glad it paid off for me, though!

Yeah, I'm really trying to write more about myself or at least my personal thoughts and experiences. This outro was a little experiment and I think it was very productive for me to get these thoughts out and into lyrical form.

I feel kind of differently. I've actually thought about doing an album that was sonically eclectic, but thematically sound, which in a way, I feel like Dangerous Woman was. From what I could tell, Dangerous Woman is thematically about rebellion and independence, making your own choices, and all that. To me, it feels more put together than, for example, a Rihanna album. (No shade because I don't really care for cohesive albums, and I preferred Rihanna when she was a label puppet.)
I can see where you're coming from, though. I would for sure want to have a focus, either thematically, sonically, or both, than to just throw a bunch of songs I think would stick to the wall and call it a day.

Ooo I like this.
For me it was always for myself and of course to meet the round requirements.
Last season for the second round I wrote a song based on the judges critics from my previous round and added more emotion. (Didn't turn out well )
But there shouldn't be an excuse, I'm sure theres a balance somewhere between the two

I didn't know your song was about that! I wrote one about the same thing in S7 called Tree, and it ended up being one of my favourites I wrote from the whole season. I can imagine the gratifying feeling you have, so well done!

I like Ariana and the new album, but I agree in ways. I like her music, but it lacks depth. It's very surface level, despite her supposedly writing some of her songs now you can't really tell. She doesn't have any unique viewpoints or any particular topics of interest explored in her music. That said, her music is good at the most basic level, being pleasent to listen to.

I think what it is that she had this theme and then she went with another and then somewhere in between she put them together and neither themes were completed. I hear the Moonlight side of the album then I hear the Dangerous Woman side of the album and I think this would have been perfect if one side was more than the other or they were separated into their respective sides. But the flow of the album was just all over the place to the point where I couldn't get a good read. I mean I feel she can have her "Dangerous Woman" and her "Leave Me Lonely" and her "Let Me Love You", but shouldn't **** block it with "Be Alright" and "Moonlight" and "Side to Side" and call it cohesive. This is literally been every single album; this is it pre-2000s anymore, for an artist whose first single was "Focus", I would think she would have more of it by now…
It's like the further along she goes, the more separated she feels and it's not something I would strive to be.
