I feel partially responsible for this PH trend since it basically began with me trying to teach Euphoressay what a syllable is. Certain judges can be so literal about it, when I don't think syllable count is a very worthwhile parameter in judging a song. I mean, Mariah's WBT 2nd verse is a MESS syllable wise, but the flow is perfect
I think it all comes down to having an ear for rhythm or not (oh, and line stress does make a lot of writing clunky).
