I think he means it will impact in summer. Usually summer songs gets released in May before summer, so they start picking up, it's logical (late May => June = summer )
LA Reid also said Avril's HTNGU was going to be a summer single, and it got released in April. (didn't match those expectations tho )
May is the perfect time to release it if they want it to be a summer hit. This is stupid.
