It's fine to do so, but it's also sad that it's the requirement for many female artists.

but another part of it is that their "success" isn't even driven by great music...

Doesn't really seem to be a problem. The only negative is the potential for studio/labels to force that image upon someone who doesn't feel comfortable with it.
