Don't forget the recently instituted 25/52 rule- if a song falls below #25 after 52 weeks it goes recurrent.

Also, a recurrent song needs to see a week-over-week increase in chart points to be able to rechart.

That's so stupid. Why do they interfere with the charts like that? It makes them null and void as far as I'm concerned.

I dislike the recurrent rules as well. The argument in favor of them is that they keep the chart fresh. But in my mind, the song with the 60th most chart points during a given week should be #60 on that week's chart, no matter how old it is.

I agree with alex. Furthermore, once a song goes recurrent, it no longer can accumulate points for popularity, thus potentially hampering its chances for a higher peak position on a year-end chart.

I agree. It used to be the same with albums on the Billboard 200 when after a number of weeks they fell of the top 100 they went recurrent. Thank god they eliminated that rule at the end of 2009.

Lemonade: 485k in 3.5 days ( 138k per day)
There are so many reasons that sales are lower :

- ST was released in December 2013, Lemonade : April 2016
- Every track on Lemonade is available to purchase and stream on Tidal. ST: album only
- Lemonade has 1.5 days exclusive on Tidal so people downloaded it illegally.
- Lemonade is expensive, 12 tracks + film for $18

But good news is Lemonade made more money than ST.

If I remember correctly. It sold 80k the first 3 hours, then next 24 hours it sold 250k.
I believe that Beyonce could have sold 1M (or near) first week with this album if she put it on Itunes right after the movie ended.

I quit being a Beyonce fan after her corruption by Jay-Z, but I still respect her sales & streaming #s from this past week. Give credit where credit is due!!!

I actually Tweeted Gary & Silvio a few days ago suggesting they suspend the 50/20 rule due to Prince's death. Also, why weren't Prince's additional streams factored into the Hot 100 predictions like Beyonce's? He obviously had more, and apparently I wasn't wrong about the 1 B streams (though probably WW).

Over 1 million joined TIDAL due to Prince's death (I was one of them), so that many more people were on the website when Lemonade hit. Considering I streamed "Purple Rain" all night two or three nights, and I know I wasn't alone, these streaming numbers aren't implausible. I also just now tweeted asking about that Prince clip not showing up on YT figures but received 15 M WW views just last week.
