I know that with the 4 scores, we have a 87 but I'm afraid this is incorrect. Metacritic has it's own way of distributing the numbers so while it looks like it has a 87 right now, it's possible that the real score can be 85-89. Their computer system is really weird.
It's because they weigh certain reviewers more heavily than others. IDK the exact formula, but you're right that it won't be an exact average of the compiled reviews because of the weighted system.

The tracks stand out but the album meticulously follows one narrative while being diverse and full of surprises. It's more refined than MBDTF (I say this as a Kanye stan, so don't @ me)
