See this is the kind of arbitrary COMPLEX criticisms of her and her work that just... Doesn't make sense.
Would Formation be MORE impactful without the line than it already was, what with the video and the Super Bowl performance? Were we unable to decipher her stance against police brutality? Really think about it.
It's just criticism for its own sake. And then the Hive retaliates with (probably more reasonable) criticism of Rihanna's lack of artistic contribution, overall laziness with the delivery of her craft, absence of her activism, etc, etc.

That's not a reasonable criticism. Not every artist exists to shove a message that just so happens to be trending in your face. Not every artist exists to exude a sense of contrived sublime. Rihanna exists to be an icon and a living vessel for what happens when you pursue your dreams from an unlikely scenario. And, also, to deliver hit songs for the times that will stick and reflect moments of peoples' lives.
