Can we all agree that this decade Meghan has been the most successful debut and Lana the most impactful one?
I mean still neither of those 2 come close to the levels of the 00's pop stars.
But Lana will be a legend for sure, as long as she keeps releasing often, she was by far the most impactful woman debuting this decade in the music industry.

Meghan, Nicki and Ariana ARE the main pop girls who debuted this decade. Just because they didn't have a diamond selling debut, doesn't mean they're not the main ones
I think based on numbers alone, you could make arguments for Meghan, Lorde and Ariana with the streaming, but it feels like the celebrity element is lacking terribly. None of these newer girls feel like STARS in the way that the previous generations did -- it feels like people like Kendall and Kylie Jenner are much bigger celebrities and kind of occupy that end where it used to be the hot young pop stars eating up those entertainment headlines and having that level of ubiquity outside of the music charts. Maybe it's just the climate and the way times are progressing I guess, but it's definitely not like it was before.

I think that's it. The celebrity culture has shifted so much that the new pop stars don't really feel like huge cultural personalities anymore. The reality and social media stars suck up all the oxygen - except for the supremes like Bey and Taylor.
This is true tho. Some of these girls make decent music and have some starpower (Ariana) but overall they're all boring af. Lorde makes great music but her artistry is more prominent than her starpower, same for Lana. None of them are as entertaining as the older ones
