Not really my secret as I don't work at the moment but my mum, as she works as a pharmacist in a chain.

They will do literally everything to sell you more expensive equivalents of the medicines you get prescripted saying it's the same. If you try to call them out for it, they often just say that they don't have it at the moment. Not the pharmacists fault, that's the policy of companies. Also, do not buy chain products at pharmacies, such as Vitamin C. It seems to be cheaper but they trick people by halving the doses in each pack. So they're basically twice as expensive.

I worked retail and we're supposed to give tourists their tax refund back as our shops do. If they didn't ask for the refund and paid in cash, I would just pocket their tax refund. #shrugs

So that day Instead of printing out the usual 55 menus for that day, I ended up printing about 300. I knew someone would come back and check why so many of them would be printing so I left her nudes up on the computer.
Her and my other manager were out for lunch when this happened too, Gary(her boyfriend) was at the front desk and just like I planned, he went in her office, saw the nudes and almost threw up.
I faked like I was looking for ice cream but I was low-key following him just to see what he was going to do and he ended up just running outside.
And there she was, he smacked the food out of her hand and spit in her face in the middle of the street.
My other manager took off and didn't come back for the rest of the day.
They let go of the entire staff because what happened
Apparently one of the people who owned the building was there and he was not amused

Not really a secret but this is how I got fired from that job, I've moved on and I have two jobs now.

This is probably known, but those machines you see in some stores where you pay $1 to use a claw to try and get a stuffed animal are literally constructed so that they can't grip the toys. You'd be shocked at how many people still bother with those and waste a good chunk of $$$ trying to get them.

Also the mirror you see when you're checking out at grocery stores from up above is actually a break room for the employees + the managers office. It's a two-way mirror. Most of the employees spend their breaks talking **** on the customers, the managers spy on their employees and sus customers, and usually if I go in (since I quit) I will get a snap from one of my old coworkers which is a pic of me from up above.. it's quite creepy, lmao, but I used to do the same thing

Also, my uncle who used to work at this particular chain told me there's an attack. So at grocery stores the managers literally have the ability to walk about you + watch you when they so please from these little black circular openings on top

Only steal at Walmart. If you steal at Albertsons, Ralph, or Stater Bros, they will notice a lot of the time and your picture could even be posted in the break room. The only way to steal from these chains is to put ur water bottles at the bottom and get lucky the cashier didn't see. If they ask you for a quantity of something you can also say less and if they double check, just say OOPS

I read a bunch of the pages in this thread and it's made me self-conscious. Especially about employees making fun of you/talking ****.

I'm not really an angry/mean customer; in fact, I'm the exact opposite. I'm get really shy at registers.

One of my parents works at Disney World. Some interesting secrets he shared:

-Know why you never hear any crime stories from the Disney theme parks? Every goddamn NANOMETER of all of the parks is under heavy surveillance 24/7. Yes, even if you're in the bathroom, they are watching you.

-The overwhelming majority of the character mascots, especially the princesses, are actually miserable and shady af. Also, don't be surprised to find out that Donald Duck and Snow White are getting buttwild behind the scenes

-The Beauty & The Beast restaurant is a total scam. Don't let the beautiful scenery in there fool you; the actual food is cheap tasting as hell and you'll be charged like $40 for a pork entree that cost barely $8 to be shipped over.

-Speaking of which, the servers at the B&B restaurant make more money than the actual cooking staff. A lot of them are making $100,000+ a year based off of tips since the food is so expensive and they get a lot of service. The regular staff gets treated like ****.

-Space Mountain says that you only have to be 40 inches tall to ride, but that doesn't take weight into account. The seat belts on that ride are pretty loose and thin children who just barely fit the height requirement actually have a chance of being thrown right off of the ride.

-Minority employees ALWAYS get the upper hand over white employees since a lot of them like to pull the race card when things don't go their way. If a Haitian employee wants 5 days for Christmas break, even if you've already scheduled those 5 days, you'll be forced to comply since a lot of them threat to go public with this **** and Disney doesn't want any negative publicity whatsoever.

It's less of a secret and more gossip but when I worked in the kitchen once, I saw the chef use the same knives to cut the vegetables as he did to cut the meat and bread.

They closed down soon after.

Pretty sure I've posted in here again so I may have said some of this stuff before but I'll say it again. I've been in retail for almost 10 years btw.

At retail stores, if you attempt to shoplift but then change your mind, you're still getting stopped at the door as soon as you try to walk out.

Not all of those black globes on the ceiling are cameras. A lot of them are fake and don't actually have cameras in them. They just put them up to deter shoplifters.

When you call the store and ask if we have something onhand, a lot of the time we don't actually go look for it because so many customers call and then by the time we've ran ourselves ragged trying to look for an item for them, they've hung up. Assholes.

The same applies for if you come into the store and ask us if we have something really lol

When people call and ask to speak to our security guard, we're not allowed to say he's not there even if he's not because a lot of shoplifters call before they come into the store to find out if the security guard is there or not.

Be nice to your cashier because a lot of the time we have good coupons sitting at the register that we can apply to your purchase but if you're rude, we won't. If I sense an attitude you're not getting **** from me. Have fun paying full price for your purchase. The next customer will get a nice 20% off their entire purchase just for being sweet

Just because something doesn't have a visible security hard tag on it, doesn't mean it isn't there. A lot of items have stickers on them that will cause it to beep when you walk out. There's a sensor under our registers that deactivate the stickers when the item passes over it.
