THe 00's were uneven too though. Most pop girls came on post 2005 so I think it's too early to say that this decade has already. Besides, a lot of stars in the early 2000's debuted in the late 90's. Who even debuted in the early 2000's, hmmmm???

Meghan has potential if she continues like this... but I don't know why some people are saying Ariana, her album sales are kinda bad (especially My Everything's because it felt bigger) and her single sales are average except for Problem, the only impressive thing on her career IMO. (yet still not massive impact) and she's already declining as it seems.

Good for her. But nobody outside of forums (or just outside of the Meghan base) cares if she wrote a heavy metal or a gospel song. She doesn't have the impact the major pop girls have. Streaming wasn't even big in the 00s (when the major pop girls debuted), so why would you expect their debut singles to have over a billion views

Oh, and I'm not discrediting her. I know what she's achieved and I applaud her for that. But again, you can't compare her to the major pop gurls.

Kesha needs to have a big comeback. Luke screwed everything up. She was supposed to be the fun one, and now the scene is boring without her or any of the main girls. Gwen and Rih is all we've got right now, and radio only plays one of them.

Because her and Meghan are the only pop starts that have come close. We're not saying they're currently a major pop girls, but who else debuted this decade that are closer as far a success and impact?

Adele broke through in 2008. 19 performed very well for a debut album. Chasing Pavements peaked at 21, 19 topped iTunes, and she won Grammys.

21 was her mainstream breakthrough but it wouldn't have happened if it weren't for 19.

how quickly we forget. avril was huge the first 5-ish years she was out. her debut sold what, 8 million or something along those lines in the US alone? she was definitely a main girl
