Most of the newer girls have only accomplished a fraction of what the majors have done in the same timeframe. I blame social media. Social media makes these girls seem like bigger stars then they actually are

Nicki is much closer than Ari or Meghan (although Selena>>) but yeah this decade is lacking a BiT. Then again Taylor and Rihanna didn't blow up till years after their debuts (Love Story and Umbrella) so maybe one of the emerging pop girls will pull a smash out the bag.

As embarrassing as it sounds they are definitely the closest ones we'll have this decade.

in all seriousness none of these new girls have the charisma it factor drama & extra oomph the past pop girls have (ariana had her shot though but she kind of blew it which is sad) i mean meghan ariana or selena can release top 10 singles but at the end of the day they all feel like such non-event (also applies to their eras)

Rih debuted in May 2005 and Umbrella dropped in March of 2007

None of the girls from this decade have had their Umbrella moment yet, and it's been greater than two years for the vast majority of them.

Ariana is struggling tho, she's already on her 3rd era and is definitely a decline from the not so massive 2nd one.

Meghan is going up, NO is pretty big and she already has AATB which was probably bugger than any Arianna or Lorde single.
