First off all, I'm not sure what you mean when you say "there are VERY few non-vegan foods that are not from animals" - there's none. The only non-vegan foods are from animals. I think you mean vegan sources of the vitamins listed? There's a tonne for calcium! As for vitamin D, I totally get your inhibition! You'll still be able to get a good amount in mushrooms and orange juice if you seek them out. Contrary to popular belief, Vitamin D is only present in dairy if it's fortified and as for one of it's most plentiful sources, the flesh of salmon - you'd need to eat 100g a day to fulfil your RDI. For that reason, many trained dieticians, nutritionists and doctors will commonly suggest a supplementation of Vitamin D along with a healthy diet. You also might like to know that science has actually recently indicated that what we thought to be the best source of calcium (milk), in fact depletes calcium from our bones. Check it out here.
Here are some wonderful sources for calcium! Have a lovely day

My bad, that was a typo. I meant non-dairy/animal-derived foods.
Only certain types of mushrooms, such as maitake mushrooms, contain the proper amount of vitamin D that can be incorporated throughout meal(s) to meet** the daily value. There are lots of meats like fatty fishes (salmon) and other meats have vitamin D. Calcium also sings a similar tune, since only special types of foods like tempeh, blackstrap molasses, and so forth, contain proper amounts of calcium for a vegan to meet his daily value.
And I preach again, supplements contain toxins and chemicals to ensure the binding in them and ultimately do not make you meet your daily value because of the mixture of the foreign additives.
I guess it is technically possible to have a natural vegan diet, but you must understand that to do you have to find really eccentric foods, foods that will be hard to access in the anglosphere without going out of your way, making it too difficult of a diet to maintain.

Thank you for your concern - your attention to health and nutrition is fantastic! Here's some information on getting your full intake, as well as a video (and a second one) about vegan blood test results that should quell some concerns if you're interested in pursuing a kinder, lower carbon diet. Much love!

For every article or source you can give me there's another equally credible organization preaching the opposite.

To achieve adequate dietary calcium intake, several choices are available that accommodate a variety of lifestyles and tastes. Liberal consumption of dairy products in the diet is the approach of most Americans. Some plants provide absorbable calcium, but the quantity of vegetables required to reach sufficient calcium intake make an exclusively plant-based diet impractical for most individuals unless fortified foods or supplements are included. Also, dietary constituents that decrease calcium retention, such as salt, protein, and caffeine, can be high in the vegetarian diet. Although it is possible to obtain calcium balance from a plant-based diet in a Western lifestyle, it may be more convenient to achieve calcium balance by increasing calcium consumption than by limiting other dietary factors.

That document you cited listed some of the "best" sources of calcium, and a majority of them were fortified juices. The calcium had to be added in to have a significant quantity of it.
Again, those plants are poor sources of dietary calcium.

I'm glad you can see this!
Don't wish to fight at all but just would like to say one last thing - shopping for veganism, especially healthy veganism, couldn't be easier! Contrary to popular belief, I don't need to hike the Himalayas to get my special vitamin salt or search for Atlantis for my special algae sources and the like - it's all done at my local Australian supermarket (this is the anglosphere, right?). There are more and more of us everyday, maintaining a cruelty-free diet with ease and feeling amazing for it. I've had my ear to the wall for any criticisms or troubles veganism could bring up and as such I've been working closely with a doctor, who couldn't be more impressed! Perhaps one day you'll be inspired to make a change, if that ever happens please don't hesitate to PM me! Until then, lots of love

This is true - we're going back and forth, aren't we? For that reason it's probably best to leave it here. I'm glad both you and I are, whilst following different diets, both fulfilling our daily needs of all nutrients - kudos to us both! As I said to the poster above, if you're ever interested in information, a second opinion or advice on how to pursuing a cruelty-free, low carbon diet whilst living healthily, just chuck me a PM!

Not true. I eat mostly whole fruits and vegetables, which I get at my local asian market. Unless you're in a middle-of-nowhere type rural town, vegetables are available cheaply by the bounty.

I think I could do vegetarian. I remember doing it for about a month. Veganism would be a real struggle though.

This. I'm fine with vegetarians and vegans but stop trying to shove it down everyone's throats. I like what I like and it's not going to change

I'd go vegan but I love the taste of meat. Plus, marinades or wing sauce wouldn't work well with vegetables.
Excited for lab-grown animal products and how they will affect the environment (hopefully for the better)

There is tons of not sponsored research proving most of your claims wrong. You can find them on pubed, aka a RELIABLE source.
Everything in moderation (except beef, it's seriously vile and idg how people can eat this ****).

Once I'm an adult and I live on my own and stuff I'm going to really consider becoming a vegan.
