My parents/family really don't get my love for Bey. The fact my parents only enjoy Crazy In Love, Runnin', Telephone and Hymn. My father literally begins to scream when I put on Deja Vu, Single Ladies or anything from Selftitled. He literally hates Drunk In Love Most friends I have are only hooked on edm music or that crappy hard core genre, which I can't even handle for 5 minutes Even my ex had a complete different music taste to mine, more in the emo genre.

I'm so glad Bey never jumped on the edm train. Imagine if 4 had turned out like some of the other indistinguishable albums from 2011

They hate R&B, poor them. I think most of my family also hates R&B except my sister. She loves Bey just as much as I do.

That would've been tragic. 4 is what got me stanning for Bey.

Yeah I am very happy about that and that is also why I love her so much. She stays true to herself. She is genuine. She does things because they fit her and feel right, rather than jumping a hype or trend just for the sake of it. Basically her whole discography has the ability to actually age well with the years, while a lot of her peers and beginning artists these days have albums that start becoming dated the moment they hit the shelves.

Pre 4 I really didn't listen to her albums. I would listen to Destiny's Child 100x more than Bey. From the second I heard that Run The World demo I knew I was about to see her differently.
But now I appreciate and regularly listen to all her albums. The power of her flop era.

Yet she gets flack for being "the most disingenuous" pop star because she isn't tweeting ~~~quirky jokes~ and replying "love you!" to fans that spam her insta with "mom!!! Queen!!"

This is gonna sound crazy but 4 was one of the contributing factors to me coming out. it was just so raw and emotional and that combined with everything else I was experiencing in my life motivated me to do it.
People don't understand what influence Bey has on us and what her music does.

Me, Myself and I, BTINH and Irreplaceable are literally the BEST breakup songs out there. They have always helped me regain my confidence rather quickly.

Bey makes me feel indestructable. All my faves do. That's why I stan them - they are not only the most talented women to have ever set foot in the industry, but they were/are all underdogs and make quality music that is relatable and makes me feel stronger as a person.
Even as a white male that can't really relate to Run The World and Formation, I relate to the vibe of aforementioned songs. As a closeted LGBT person I feel the oppression and I feel looked down upon and I feel judged. In terms of love life I feel like someone who has... Not been wronged necessarily, but someone who hasn't been shown a lot of love or been given a lot of chances and her breakup songs make me feel empowered also.
Not to mention I just love her personally. I'm so proud of her. We're on the edge of something huge for her, a real turning point.

The spirit of the music is so defiant and proud; I think that's what makes those songs relatable to anyone that isn't blindly racist. It's just so great to watch someone be so unabashedly proud of herself and it makes you want to live your life in the same unapologetic manner.
There are lot of life lessons to be learned from her if you really pay attention.

Awww, I can totally relate to this feeling. That's basically me in 2013. It'll change, just be you, leave that damn closet behind once you feel comfortable stepping out. At the end of the day, I personally believe we overthink too much when it comes to these things and even overestimate our very own importance if that makes sense. I mean, it's your life. You should be the best you. Fullstop. There should be no one telling you any different. Don't miss out on YOUR life because ur afraid of people's opinion about your sexual life.
I don't think B6 is going to be a turning point, she already had her turning moment with ST. B6 is going to make it obvious, that even though some might sell more in the industry than Bey, no one is able to touch her importance and impact. I think people will realize, that no matter how many millions Adele or Taylor sell, they will never match Bey's impact on culture. She will prove that she is ultimately the QUEEN, and I believe she will officially take over Madge now (in terms of controversy, excellence, being a mogul, and tours).

I agree so much.
If you're prejudiced or you have a low attention span or you just want generic music, you'll not pick up on the subtleties and nuances in her music that allow it to be interpreted in many different ways, even without lyrics. Formation's lyrics are thoroughly about black rights and Bey's origins but, as you say, the spirit is so much like a raging bull that you just have to think about whatever it is you're going through and think about smashing it and coming through the other side.

Oh that's so sweet, but you need not worry. The way I wrote that probably came across wrong - I'll come out someday but my family are pretty accepting and I live in the UK which in the grand scheme of things is a pretty liberal place. I'll be fine. I'm just waiting until end of school/university to come out I think.
I agree somewhat, I think ST was a turning point but she was still talking about herself. This album, I truly believe, will see her risk her entire career to show herself standing up for causes we've been waiting for her to speak on for almost 20 years. We shall see.
