KIB cannabalizing Needed Me? It'd be the way around which sucks because both are some of her best songs ever.
Ehh, not a fan of the dual release but I think I can see what they're trying to do with this. Perhaps they want both songs to get exposure (although it cuts either's chance at #1) and both are pretty good, thus whoever hasn't already purchased or downloaded the album already will do so because "Wow Rihanna has just released two really good songs lemme give her my coinz!"

7 Years type of song sounds current. Kiss It Better sounds like something straight from early 10's.
There's not a single early 10's hit that sounds even remotely similar to KIB.
KIB fits perfectly in the current landscape, especially after The Weeknd owned 2015 and Ariana released a sexy, guitar led midtempo as her lead single.
