Tidal should only be the place where you can exclusively STREAM the album.
No. Streaming is unfortunately a big part of the charts nowadays, making it unavailable on Spotify will most definitely hinder it's success. No Tidal exclusive. PERIOD.
I think A Woman Like Me and Cater 2 U (BET) were the peak moments of her beauty. I also think 2008 is when she stopped looking like a young girl and started looking more like a woman, idk if it has something to do with her makeup but there's a change.
Her look in the Cater 2 U video is flawlessly iconic
Tidal should stream the album like every other service. NOTHING should be exclusive to Tidal.
The album should not be available for streaming. period.
if folks want it...BUY it....
and all ya'll saying throw the film on Tidal...are crazy...that's not some BTS mess. i'm sure Beyonce put a lot of work into it...that should be seen by as many people as possible.
I love that Beyoncé has this feeling of exclusiveness and independence around her and her art.
Expensive tickets, exclusive albums, videos and endorsements, the list goes on.
But this image of being exclusive, of being someone who is worth the money is only profitable if you're still accessible for the general public.
For example the release of "BEYONCÉ" was perfect. It was exclusively available on iTunes, but since so many people use iTunes, it was still able to break sales records.
But her recent actions, blacklisting the "Formation" video and not releasing the song to iTunes, Amazon etc., made her too exclusive in my opinion. The GP wants to consume Beyoncé music, but with every day she's making it harder for them to even find her official songs/videos.
So I desperately hope that she doesn't release the album to Tidal only for the first few weeks, she'd waste a huge potential!
This album, especially if it has a political message, needs to be heard by millions. Releasing it to Tidal is not the way to achieve this.
I hope y'all can understand what I wrote here, because it's even confusing for me.
Ikr. For God's sake Bey, release the album normally!!
Beyoncé is a legend at this point. She is. There's absolutely no denying it. Her cultural impact is beyond our comprehension at this time, but we'll look back at her career in the years to come and come to recognise the extent of her music and art on the lives of millions. That's the positive.
Looking back, it's clear that she was bored. So she consciously made a concerted effort to become more of an artist. You know, actually make art. That's what excites her now. She's not making music for the charts, not producing music just to be popular, and certainly not making music for the fame to the extent that she used to. Making art that has cultural impact is where she derives her long-aspired gratification. We have to commend her for that. She's become an artist - in the real sense of the word, before our very eyes.
Nevertheless, I do feel that she's taken us, her loyal fans, for granted. Hypothetically, let's just say that her tours starting doing poorly, and no one was paying attention to her nor her music anymore, would she then revert back to commercial music? Probably. Or maybe, she has a level of equanimity that I fail to see. For the past so many years, she's been in the precarious mindset of complacency. Not putting her new song on iTunes pissed me the **** off. And then she hides the video on YouTube? I just don't get it. Not even indi artists do that. She's taken this way too far. I get it, it was for a social cause and she didn't want to make profit off of it. Fine, then release the damn song on iTunes for FREE, and make the video available so as many people as possible can see your message. Look, my opinion is not incontrovertible and you can think otherwise, but the last few months have been so bizarre for the BeyHive.
Don't get me wrong, I'll forever support her in whatever venture she pursues, but it's just not as provocatively thrilling to be a fan as it used to be. We get next to no promo performances, she doesn't do interviews, and she doesn't go to many award shows, etc. I mean, there's being an artist; but then there's being just plain disrespectful to your fans who have been loyal throughout the years. We have invested in her career. We have paid for her albums, her tour, and her merchandise. It's beginning to feel like we're getting nothing in return.
Hate me all you want, but this is how I feel and I've been feeling it for quite some time now.

Sorry for the rant
(a) Bey has a great ear for music. She isn't doing music just to impress people, she does music she first and foremost appreciates herself and can bop to. I believe she is someone who is very very difficult to please, hence she records over 100 track prior to narrowing it down. So I disagree with your perception of "going back to commercial music if she's start to fail". She never 100% left it nor will leave, simply because her taste in music is very commercially-appealing. All she cares about is creating meaningful art that can be consumed. Not meaningful art for some indie fans, but meaningful art that can be appreciated on a global scale, but most importantly by HERSELF. Even if she'd flopped, I highly doubt she would go to Max Martin and ask for a commercial, soulless song.
(b) You make no sense in that you start your rant on "she is a legend" and then go on about how inaccessible she's become. Just take at other fanbases of legendary artists: Fans of Prince, fans of Aretha, fans of Celine, fans of any of these artists.. Do they see their favs on national TV? Nope. Do they see them as often as any regular pop star? Nope. I mean, part of being a legend is being something that is seen as a mystery. It's always been like that, ever since the word "legend" has been created. I agree, it's frustrating at times, but I've come to the conclusion that we as the Beyhive have to evolve as well, just like Bey evolved. She's no longer any other RnB star or a very successful one, she's an RnB and Pop Legend. Therefore, we must leave the stage of being fanbases of a regular or very successful fanbase and start evolving into a fanbase that is worthy of their legendary artist.
Bey is in her 30s she shouldn't be retiring from national TV not that she is but yea....
Personally speaking I'm over the mystery and guessing and lack of communication, like who is that fun for
Just tell us the album is coming X month or before summer etc and stop with the surprise releases it's tiresome. I mean do you guys want every era to be like this?

Again, I don't really like it like this either, but she's a damn legend and behaving like one, so I'm fine with transforming alongside her and only focusing on her art, which is the music. We have the tours to see her and the music to enjoy. That's what legends do.

This album isn't a surprise release though, there will be an announcement. I'm glad she doesn't say "New album coming in 3 months" like some other singers who over hype their stuff. Bey lets her art speak for itself.
The '4' leak really changed her, so did Blue. She's never going to be the promo, singles driven queen she once was, she's basically spoke out against both topics.
She released one song for free as a buzz single, she put BD/IBO on Soundcloud, what's the difference?
