Alright, lemme gather my thoughts.
Overall, I thought the show was a amazing. Rihanna had great energy, great vocals, and you could tell she was really having a fun time on stage and singing songs that she loves and cares about. On top of that, the audience was spectacular. I always love being with Navy because they are so friendly and willing to meet new people. It was really a party. As someone from another show pointed out, LOTB was definitely a crowd favorite, along with FFS (thanks to some helpful audience vocals). I was also surprised by the amount of people who got excited for SOM. It's my personal favorite but I didn't realize so many people shared that love. Visually, the show is beautiful. The blankness of the stage really makes you focus on her beauty and talent. I also think they added some additional background visuals onto the foam wall (before it started foaming) when it got to the last act, which I thought really enhanced the atmosphere.
During her good-bye speech before LOTB and KIB, she started to tear up and continued crying throughout those two songs. You could really tell that Rihanna loves her fans and that she is an emotional woman. She definitely builds a unique connection with each audience. And that's what I love about Rihanna shows. They're reactive. You never know what exactly she is going to say when she does her between songs chats, and I think that aspect of all of her shows makes her so personable.
As for negatives, obviously I was bummed about the exclusion of Pose. I also thought that the show went by fairly quickly. Even though it was about an hour and 10/15 minutes, it felt shorter than that and the acts (minus the last) flew by. I also still stand by my opinion that the features (minus Take Care) need to go. They just felt like they were there to fill up time. I also don't know if this was an issue at any other venue, but often the music was so much louder than the vocals that I could not make out what Rihanna was saying or singing. Luckily since I know all of the lyrics that wasn't extremely problematic, but I would've liked for her voice to come through more. Also, as much as I stan for SOM, it is a very weird song live. I just don't think they've figured out how to make it work, and I think the set would be vocally stronger by replacing it (like with Yeah, I Said It ).
Overall, I am extremely satisfied and extremely sad that it is over. I wish I could go to her Chicago show as well.
