I'm fairly confident that the GOP will reform itself to become a new party if things do not go well for them later this year.

Well yes, but ever since then we've failed to even reach three (the Republicans had three with Reagan and the first Bush).
The Republicans had six in a row way back in the 1800's, but this was well before all the shifting in each party's ideals and primary locations. Regardless, let's all agree to elect Hillary twice and then another Democrat two more times.

So the total years of FDR and Truman was 20 years. I hope we can have a democrat president for the next 8 years to help America move forward on a progressive path

The Republican Party needs to pride itself on certain economic and other stances and get rid of their social conservative attitude if they want to remain viable in Presidential politics. They need to be more subtle and less extreme about social conservatism and not make it a main factor; they need to get with the times and support scientifically validated views; and they need to bring better logic and argument for other areas.
It's funny because Donald and Cruz, as the frontrunners, are exactly the opposite of what they need if they hope to have a chance in hell against Hillary, or the next Democratic nominee after Hillary's two terms.

No more social issue talk, all parties will only be about the economy/foreign affairs. European style

In a ideal Democratic victory, Hillary wins 2016 with a great, promising VP. Has a good 4 year term. Gets re-elected in 2020 if she's so allowed with her life. And then the VP gets 2024 and 2028. Looks like Julian Castro right now. First black president, first female president, first Hispanic president?
Could you imagine 24 years with a Democratic president? Sounds too good to be true.

Can I use this time to express my distaste for Castro? He's a nice pick and all, but let's not pretend there won't be more qualified Democrats out there by the time he'd be running for President. He doesn't honestly bring all that much to the table as a VP pick, and I doubt he'd be the assumed frontrunner for the spot if it weren't for the fixation on young men and his ability to draw a minority vote. I feel like there are already better picks out there, you know?
Hell, if she wants a young man so much to contrast with her, she might as well pick O'Malley - at least some people know his name now after his minor cameo in this race.

So basically the Republican Party would slowly become the Libertarian Party? I'm here for that.
But the future of the Democratic Party really rests with Hillary or Bernie if they win. Most likely Hillary. If she has a bad term, that's bad for us. If she does good, at this point better than Obama because look how close it is already, then we're fine. We have the argument in our favor. Three great Dem presidents (Bill, Obama, Hillary). Compare that to Reagan, Big Bush, and George Bush....No comparison hopefully.
And honestly if Trump is the nominee and loses badly, then that will really hurt the GOP's reputation more than it already is. They would officially become a joke.

Watch the "Bernie wins blue states and swing states, Hillary wins red states!" Bernsters go real quiet when Hillary wins Florida by 30+

I'm so so so so nervous for tomorrow. If it ends up being a really good night for Hillary, I'll cry of happiness tbh. I'll run around my house crying and screaming LOL... I may sleep through the night tomorrow and wake up to the poll results :X

Can a party absorb another party? Ie the GOP becoming the libertarian party and renaming it self as the new Republican Party or something else?

In theory there's nothing wrong with it.
But could the Republicans swallow their pride and make a shift? Because the world's been moving to a more liberal mindset for years, and instead of moving with, they've been reactionary and arguably moved even more to the right.
I honestly don't know if they're capable of making the shift they need to make.

Do the current polls take independent voters into account? If Ohio, Illinois and Missouri don't include a high estimate of Independent voters for Bernie, than Hillary could definitely be beat... And by some pretty big #'s

Hopefully the sane Republicans would go to Libertarians and keep that name, and the Tea Party would be the only people in the Republican Party and they slowly die out, and put a rest to the Republican Party. Or the Libertarian Party just becomes the new reformed Republican Party (they would keep that name and the Tea Party would be its own thing that won't get any traction). OMG New Republican Party! I like it.
But this would take years and years, and would only keep the progressive agenda going forward that I don't think the party would even have much impact anymore. But I doubt any of this would happen because the conservative movement is so strong, and it's not going anywhere.

It'll be interesting to see what happens to the GOP if it does not do well in the election in November

The Democratic Party as a whole sorta has a young leadership problem. Hillary, Pelosi, Hoyer, Clyburn, Reid (retiring), Schumer - they're all old as dirt. There aren't really a lot of young "superstars" on the rise. I find it amazing how O'Malley was really the only young-ish guy in the party who tried this cycle. You could say that all of the younger hopefuls got out of the way just out of respect for Hillary - but who really could have challenged her anyways? Nobody really comes to mind.
