Freak Show is kinda underrated. Monsters Among Us, Orphans and Curtain Call aw among the greatest episodes of all timee; especially Orrphans.

It's still by faaaarr the worst, but it had its moments. Pink Cupcakes, Show Stoppers, Magical Thinking, Bullseye and Test of Strength are all TRASH though. Devils Night >>> all of those episodes.

Coven > Asylum = Hotel > Murder House >>> Freak Show

Though it's obvious Asylum is the best season in terms of quality.

I have to agree with this, except switch Coven and Asylum.

I use to hate Coven so much but it's aged well.

how can coven be better than hotel or murder house?
hotel and murder house were both consistent whereas coven was pure trash after the 6th episode and stayed trash till the end.

freak show had some amazing moments but the bad episodes are the series worst so yeah

Asylum was truly the best and most iconic season. I started re-watching the show and it was soooo well written. My personal ranking

1. Asylum - Great plot, mix of Satan, Nazi, creatures,aliens, church and a killer. Great and iconic characters.
2. Murder House - Moody, again interesting plot. Had great moments.
3.Coven - Enjoyable but kinda boring at some point. Great characters.
4.Freakshow - the "creatures" were adorable, and it had some good moments but it was not that scary at all.
5.Hotel - the worst season, boring plot with only two cool characters. Gaga was horrible. She should have died at the 1st episode.

It had some rocky moments but not 5 TRASH episodes in a row

I feel like AHS is too formulaic now. I hope 6 is very different. Smaller cast, stronger plot, better twists.

My exact ranking. I liked Hotel, I don't think it is AS bad as you thought it was, but I agree that it is the worst. I loved the first three seasons, and really enjoyed FS, but hotel was just Blegh. It had less redeeming factors to it. Liz being a series best character did not redeem the tired, boring, nonsensical, and predictable plot lines or the one-dimensional, senseless characters. But the set was phenomenal. Being the same visual quality with season 6!!

What are your guys favorite connection theories?

Let me summarize them for you.

1. The Nine Circles of Hell

According to this theory, each season represents one of the circles of hell depicted in Dante's epic poem "Inferno". We had to read this for one of my AP English classes so let me educate you. In the poem, Dante is lead through the nine circles of hell by a poet named Virgil. Basically.... we're Dante, Ryan Murphy is Virgil and he's giving us a tour of hell. The poem is plagued with poetic justice--this supports the theory because their is a lot of poetic justice in AHS too. A good example is Sister Jude. She was truly awful to Lana and had her committed to Briarcliff under false pretenses, and eventually Jude gets held at Briarcliff against her will as well. This theory also explains why the same people have different roles in each season. Each circle of hell is essentially a different world than the next, as it is described in the poem. They're the same soul traveling through different worlds.

Murder House - Lust*. Infidelity was major theme in the first season, and although there is a lot more sex in Hotel, none of them are really plagued by their lust. For some, it's empowering.

Asylum - Fraud. A lot of people are quick to give Asylum violence since it is the most gruesome season but i believe it is Fraud. It's a church-owned facility and its run by a Nazi doctor, A murder with mommy issues, a sex-crazed nun possessed by the Devil, a power hungry corrupt Catholic leader, and a headmistress who isnt as strong as she seems. Nothing is what it seems in this season.

Coven - Treachery. , Hank betrays Cordelia, Cordelia betrays Fiona, Fiona betrays Madison, Madison betrays Misty... you get the idea.

Freak Show - Greed. Elsa and Stanley are the best examples. The Freakshow was about to be run out of town in the first ep in favor of a more proffitable option. Bette and Dot were only brought in to make the Freak Show money. The Motts are extremely greedy.

Hotel - Gluttony*. Addiction to blood, addiction to tortue, addiction to drugs, addiction to alcohol, addiction to sex....

*= Could also be read as the first circle, Limbo, where the dead are trapped forever.

Coven was entertaining in its chaos

Hotel was just as inconsistent and had a finale only SLIGHTLY less bad than Coven's

Hotel does not have an episode as good as The Sacred Taking, The Replacements, Bitchcraft or The Magical Delights of Stevie Nicks.

2. The Seven Deadly Sins

basically... each character represents a certain sin they are plagued by in each of the seasons.

Jessica - Gluttony. Jude was an alcoholic, Fiona was obsessed with being young, Elsa was addicted to power.
Evan - Wrath. Tate was a school shooter, Kitt beat up that cop one time otherwise he was a good guy, Kyle murdered his mom, Jimmy murdered a cop, and Mr. March...
Sarah - Pride. Famous Lana before she exposed Briarcliff (like when she met with Kitt for coffee or something). I'm not sure about Sally, Bette and Dot, or Cordelia, though. Anybody?

3. The Montgomerys

Basically... Madison and Charles Montgomery are related and both posess powers of Witchcraft. If you think about it though, they both did bring people back f rom the dead. Maybe this means it all goes back to the Salem witch trials.

4. My theory: the Massachusetts theory.

Every season is connected to Boston/MA somehow. I believe the last season may be set in Boston and we will see cameos from all our favorite characters.

- The Harmons moved from Boston to LA
- Briarcliff is in Sudbury, MA
- Salem witch trials were obviously refernced several times in coven
- Rita (Pepper's sister) is from Boston, Elsa worked their as a showgirl in the 20s.
- Mr. March's accent is basically an early 1900s Boston Accent.

And thats all the theories I know of.

Room 33 and She Gets Revenge are better than all of them Their quality is on par with Asylum's episodes.

Room 33 is probably in my top 5 of the best AHS episodes Pure excellence
