It really was! I remember it like it was yesterday. It aired in July/August 1999, and for ten nights at 10 PM, I was enthralled.
- The first hour was hosted by Jennifer Lopez, who wore a fetching chocolate brown leather jacket. Before the countdown standed, the ten women who missed the top 100 were named - Celine Dion, Lauryn Hill, and Cher among them.
- The second hour was hosted by (Sass Icon) Geri Halliwell, who did a very credible Southern accent while introducing Loretta Lynn, and who, at the time, was
a bigger star than Jennifer Lopez. (let your mind explode please.)
- The third hour was presented by (at the time) one-time Emmy winner, and more importantly, third billed co-star of legendary Oscar flop
Paradise Road, Julianna Marguiles.
- Courteney Cox (before or after the Arquette) hosted the fourth hour, and used her comedic timing to sell a pun about Dolly Parton's boobs.
- They brought out the big guns for the top twenty - Susan ****ing Sarandon.
It was life itself. The most iconic moment of 1999 tbh. Y'all should have been there!
