Bedtime Stories and American Life are kind of complete companions. They both deal with that hazy, intense feeling of being totally in love in many songs (Nothing Fails, Intervention, Secret, Take A Bow, I'd Rather Be Your Lover), dealing with the challenges and frustrations of life (Survival, Easy Ride, American Life, Human Nature) and experiment with sounds that were used in the previous album but in a heavier way (R&B/hip-hop and folktronica).
American Life is better, naturally. But I was thinking about this today.
