I should explain myself in regards to 25 being a letdown. My biggest problem with 25 is the fact that it still feels generally sad. I understood Hello being a sad song since it should have been used as a transition record. Lyrically it couldn't have been a better comeback single.

But the rest of the songs felt very formulaic for her. She should have sang about finally finding the true love of her life, her child, etc. I like that she included the idea of her getting older and becoming more of an adult but the way she approached made it sound like she was 60 or something. Plus there are way too many ballads. I don't mind ballads but she needs to find a better balance. At least 2-3 up-tempos, 2-3 mid-tempos, and the rest can be ballads.

I think she did it on purpose like she said many times she's more guarded with her songwriting and doesn't wanna expose too much. She's become over protective and she lets it affect the way she approaches a song now.
All I know is i enjoy 25 more than 19 as a whole and equally with 21. Bitch needs to step up her game on the next one tho.

this. i said this pretty early on, but everyone wieved WWWY as THE big song after Hello. and it's the critics darling.
but two slow ballads in a row is just wrong. should have WUTB as 2nd. now get it as 3rd (note to columbia, nothing else will happen )

i love IMY, a radio edit should actually really work imo, i think it has a great and fresh sound that works today on radio.
