Room is my personal favorite. I also really enjoyed Mad Max. I haven't seen it, but I've heard great things about Spotlight.

The ones you're not interested are pretty great.

In any case, I would say Room and Spotlight.

Brooklyn is romantic drama, but nothing special.

The Martian... just don't waste your time.

But if you change your mind, then I'd say you see at least Mad Max: Fury Road. The Big Short and The Revenant are definitely not for everyone.

It makes me sad that Carol will 99% get 0 wins maybe one or two less important categories. The fact that it's not up for Best Picture is a disgrace.
