Here is my 2-cents thoughts on the top 10:
#1. Sonika: Yesterday when i found out about her song choice, i thought it would be a total trainwreck. Why the heck a pretty singer chose such a dark and intense song. But tonight Sonika proved me wrong, she showcased her best vocal performance ever, hit all the damn right notes and most importantly, finally unveiled her personality. Sonika will be the dark horse the other contestants have to watch out
#2. La'Porsha: She's a diva, and we have had 218937285 divas in Idol's history. But unlike the other divas, La'Porsha knows how to use her vocal and not to overdo it. Tonight, she sang "Diamonds" so effortlessly and it didn't feel like she's in a competition. I hope she continues to pick more current songs instead of cliched and dated song choices like Proud Mary or And I'm Telling You
#3. Olivia: It's not her best performance but still a great one. The first half is absolutely stunning, her head voice is heavenly
The second half should have been more explosive. Such a shame that she and the band were not in sync at the big note
#4. Trent: It's not an easy task to sing Sam Smith, especially with a fast-paced song like "Like I Can". Trent delivered a pretty performance, not a big fan of his falsettos tho
#5. Dalton: Dalton set himself apart from other contestant with a distinctive style. It's a fun pop-punk version of Plain White T's emotional ballad and he proved himself as a great performer. The vocal is just okay
#6. Avalon: I fear the worst for Avalon, it's not a bad performance, just forgettable. She should push herself more cause i know her vocal range is capable of more than that. And she should embrace her "swag" and contemporary R&B sound more, cuz that's what makes her special in this competition
#7. Mackenzie: I see NO fire in that performance. He's a limited singer and it clearly showed in this performance. His voice got swollen in the chorus. But i think it's enough for him to survive this round
#8. Tristan: I was blown away by her audition. She gave me a strong mini-Alicia Keys tea. But then she decided to sing COUNTRY, ****ING COUNTRY. Girl you should stay true to yourself, your voice and your style is not suitable for country music. Someone should tell her to go back to her lane before it's too late
#9. Lee: He's only 15 and he seriously should listen to more music. His entire music world is evolving around Ed Sheeran
"Skinny Love" is not an easy song to understand and tackle, especially for a 15 years old guy. His performance is just bland and tasteless. Yikes
#10. Gianna: I'm surprised to see her in top 10
Gianna can sing but Listen is too big for her. She showed out all her weakness: nasal, shaky, off-pitch, breathy. It's not a completely disaster but really not pleasant to the ears. Gianna has no artistry identity and she's clearly not ready for the competition.
Hopefully Gianna and Lee will be punched out, but Tristan and Avalon should fear the worst for their life
