I get annoyed when I'm around (mostly white) people and they say things about Asians that aren't meant to be offensive but still come off as presumptuous and generalizing as if they know what's up.

And then sometimes they'll ask me to speak on behalf of like all Asians because I guess I should generalize just as much, and I'm like, "Um, let's not."

Ive been asked to say something in spanish, teach them how to salsa dance, direct them to an authentic latino restaurant, ask how i feel about immigration, tell me that they love latino men. When they find out that i speak korean/been to asia/find out 97% of my friends are korean, they ask me to translate every ****ing kpop song in existence, say random things in korean, and then tell me how much they want an asian boyfriend

I mean, it's *better* than people who are the type to go "no spice, no rice" about those they let in their lives because they're hateful. But it's still annoying.

I don't ask them about their white culture, talk about (specifically) white culture, or assume they should be an expert in whiteness.

Yeah, it's always a huge dilemma to call them out for it because they think they're being harmless. It's only easy to call people out on extreme racism, but that's rare. Most of it's very casual.

What Asian ethnicity did you have in mind? East Asian?

This is actually one of my pet peeves. People in North America and Oceania always think "Asian" is synonymous with "East Asian" and Hollywood (and ****) is perpetuating that idea around the world. Some people are seriously taken aback when you mention Indians or even Filipinos as Asians even though the word "Asian" was first used by the British in their colonized lands in South Asia.

in the United States, Uk, other english speaking country minus Singapore? Low
in East/Southeast asia? moderate/high (lots of bottoms/foreigner fetish)

Black people are also "popular" in Japan. When i told people i was latino, it didnt get much of a reaction (the term latino is pretty much US centric) but when I mentioned i was also black, they got wayyy too excited. It was actually kinda cool though because in the US, black guys arent really sought after, but in Korea and Japan, people were automatically more interested in me because I was black.

So your chances of a relationship with an east/southeast asian guy in the western world is low but in Asia, its pretty high.

SIDE NOTE: I dont want this to sound creepy or like im generalizing asian in the west. I went to asia to study abroad and while I was there, went on dates ect (i did notice creepy old ass white gay guys who literally came to asia to "tour" ) these are just my experiences dating/sexing asian people

It's the complete opposite in the UK. I was about 10 years old when I found it that Chinese people were also Asian.

There's definitely foreign worship, but it's for western (or Middle Eastern too, but that's basically western to us in the rest of Asia) people so it's for white people. If you're a mostly white Latino, that still qualifies.
