If all You into is cheap scares, monsters, ghosts, blood, gore then this is not a movie you should watch. If you like atmospheric movies and you enjoyed it follows and the babadook then you'll like it. I really enjoyed and it was shot beautifully imo.
I enjoyed It Follows (at least the first half), and I think Goodnight mommy is one of the worst films I've seen. Haven't seen The Babadok.
I feel like torture p*rn horror films are a bit icky. I don't really watch Saw and think it's scary, or find myself in fear at what I'm watching. Watching a group of people be murdered in some kind of device is... uncomfortable to say the least.
But, Saw actually had a concrete story behind the traps and the torture. Despite the fact the 7 films could have easily been shed down to a solid trilogy that would have been fairly fantastic, I'm excited to see what they do.
If Saw was less focused on the torture p*rn and more on the storyline and the criminal side of it all, it'd make for a great thriller series, is basically what I'm saying.
I just watched Goodnight Mommy, it was OKAY. I guessed the twist literally 12 minutes in, and it only became more obvious from there, so that was disappointing. Also, lowkey, I don't think it would've gotten nearly as good reviews if it was in English. It wasn't THAT original or THAT creepy, and it was poorly explained and poorly paced.
The end was great though, and the twins did a phenomenal job acting. Kids normally suck, but they were fantastic.
Hey guys, as horror fans I was looking to ask you a question. For a Business class I have to develop a business idea that's tourism related and I was thinking about creating a company that offers horror tours. And no, I'm not talking about Ghost Tours or tours of haunted homes. I mean like tours of places used in the filming of horror movies, and adding in the characters to make it more interactive.
Like for one tour, you'd go around Los Angeles to all the places they used to film Halloween and you'd actually be followed by someone dressed as Michael Myers and would chase you around.
Another was a massive 2 1/2 week tour of many locations around the USA, including camping at the place used for Camp Crystal Lake, visiting the house from Amityville Horror, The Exorcist, eating at the house where Leatherface wrecked havoic, and stopping by the creepy town from Halloween III.
Would any of you do any of these? I did some research and I didn't see any that existed. And I'm not actually starting this up, just doing this for a school project.
Thanks. If it's a bad idea, feel free to tell me too.
so i know this thread is titled Horror Movies, but how do you guys feel about horror TV shows? And no, i don't mean AHS
i really feel like the genre is picking up, especially in the UK. Lately I have been watching The Fades, Bedlam, The Frankenstein Chronicles (starring Sean Bean (Ned Stark)) and, okay this one is more drama than horror, but easily my favorite one of all:
In The Flesh
it's about the dead rising as zombies and being rehabilitated back to their communities, and it has a gay-centric romance storyline for the main characters. It's a really BEAUTIFUL show, and it's picking up a LOT of acclaim for redefining TV. And frankly, it's doing a hell of a better job than The Walking Dull tbh.
Kristy (it's on Netflix)
You're Next
See No Evil (2006)
See No Evil 2 (2014, with Danielle Harris and Katharine Isabelle)
They're slasher flicks.
You're Next is perfection on a screen, but a bit predictable. See No Evil is kinda cool but the second is easily stolen by Katharine Isabelle, probably my favorite role ever from her.
I am planning to watch The Forest, The Boy, Jeruzsalem . Any more nice new (2014/2015) horror movies y'all wanna suggest?
Oh and The Guest was amazing. That Calvin Harris looking hunk was so hot. I enjoyed every minute of it
I don't want to burst your bubble, but The Forest and The Boy were both a let down for me, with the twist ending being the only redeeming grace to The Boy and The Forest just being completely AWFUL.
^^^ I would do a day tour but not a 2 and a half week tour.
Also, have someone chase you around dressed up as Michael Myers? What? Please no. That would be so ridiculously corny.
Other than that it seems like a good idea.
I can remove the dressed up thing, thanks for the feedback. My instructor hasn't really given me good feedback on this, so I don't even know if I'm headed in the right direction.
Hmmm people say the screenings went really well So they don't get why they pulling this stunt.
Well, to be fair. JJ did say "blood relative". It gives him/the creators the right to include Cloverfield in the title + defend the fact they never said it was a sequel. That's why I've been saying the movie looks like it could be pretty good (even tho the trailer(s) have showed almost everything). But there's going to be backlash regardless, because people are expecting a monster.
Also, figures the Super Bowl footage was in the screening, too. A lot of people were guessing it was a helicopter/house falling apart, tricking people to thinking it's a monster. Which makes sense.

I keep having bad luck with downloading one with subs, so I gave up and just read the plot online. Doesn't seem as great as people say it to be, plot wise.

Only watch The Forest if you're literally bleeding boredom. It's not worth it, at all.
