There is opportunity still for chart dominance in streaming: a quickly consumed music video can catapult a song to the upper reaches of the charts with ease. Is there hope yet? Not really. The video is unlisted on YouTube which means it's 20 million (and counting) views will not be tabulated. Streaming of the song is available on Tidal, but it's viewership misses the substantial opportunity that it would have on platforms like Spotify and Apple Music. Beyoncé then, has willingly rendered her song ineligible for chart glory. She’s taken it out of competition. The song exists within itself, not alongside the hits of the month. Keep in mind her last #1 hit was in 2008, a surprising amount of time for an artist who has been so clearly successful in the last eight years. But she doesn’t seem to care. The message is bigger than any success a single can have. The democratic offering of a song so needed in American culture is not only bold and brave, but perhaps telling of a time to come where chart positions offer little in the way of cultural relevancy. We don't need anyone to tell us that this song is huge. We know already know it."

That was very well-written. Didn't a poster say earlier (either in this thread, the Bey base, airplay discussion, or the streaming thread) that Billboard stated on their periscope that the streams would count and the song would be on course to debut around #29? That doesn't even include the almost 10M in airplay (that is bound to grow by the end of the tracking week), debuting in the top 40 on Rhythmic in the next two days and top 50 on Pop in the next two weeks, as well as streaming growth. If she doesn't chart.... no harm no foul. If she does, we may have a top 20 debut on our hands which would be stellar with no iTunes involvement.
