Wrong thread i think lol this is the singles collection thread
Circus was an okay album. Nothing spectacular, everything safe really. They didn't want to come out as hard as Blackout because then it would just be too much... too loud. They toned it down with this album. Honestly the only nomination I expected Britney to receive was Best Dance Recording (which she did). But I think the split vote between BEP, GaGa, and Madge may help her chances. I have a feeling she may be able to pull of this one.
Anyway, I look forward to the next album. I hope she steps it up this time. There's a lot of competition next year and it would be great to finally see her Grammy night.

Exactly, if reminded me of her first album honestly. It was childish bubblegum with no meaning or talent. No wonder she didn't want anything to do with it. How embarassing. She probably hated the album more than I did. Thats why she didnt promote it. She knew she was sitting on a turkey
Actually, Britney loved Circus. She stated herself that Circus was really about her as a performer, and the element of being surprised and entertained and wondering what is going to happen next.
Hence the variety of the Circus album and the different styles of videos she said she wanted for the era.
She also said she was excited to work with some of her old producers because it felt like she was going old school.
And since when is a 9 month long tour not promoting it?
No one really buys greatest hits anyways. You have to be a hardcore die fan to re-buy the same greatest hits from the previous one
Yeah songs from Blackout and Circus were included, but was it really worth it? That's why it's good she pulled the "Box" theme for this one, it has an advantage. Even if it is being backordered still! :-\
Circus was the theme of the album. It was a little gimmick just to get people interested, I'm sure Britney can't relate to an actual Circus. It was really a bad commercial pop album. And don't bring up Mariah, her album was outstanding, and that's all that matters to me
And to me, Circus is like Britney's E=MC2. There both commercial albums expected to do well on the charts. But they don't pride on actual quality.
You know, I'm usually tired of seeing your hateful posts (and have just for the time reported you), but you make some sense here. While Circus the album itself isn't spectacular (mediocre the best word) it was a gimmick. JIVE needed people to realize Britney was still their favorite Pop star. And they got that wish with "Womanizer", "Circus", and "3" being three of her biggest hits. The album selling well, etc.
The bolded part does it the best for me. I would never have thought to put it that way, and it makes sense. It's a commercial album only expected to do well, not be critically praised. And it worked. I wish you'd stop trying to "fit in" and make stupid ass comments and write more intelligently.

No no no. You're being delusional. Britney loathesCircus. I watched the DVD two days ago actually, with the interview, and it doesn't seem like she was really into it. Yes, she said those things about the SONG "Circus", but as for the album she didn't have a coherent feeling. The style of the videos, and all that stuff are things Britney herself always control so.
As for promoting, that's not what they meant. The tour is promotion, but not general promotion. Regular people aren't going to go see a Britney tour, her fans will. General promotion are television interviews/performances, etc. Things the general public can see and decide to buy, along with the fans.

I can do without being called delusional thanks?
Discuss the album Circus:
"This is something that I've worked for for a really long time, for like a year now, so I'm very excited about putting the new album out. The timing's perfect, it's around my birthday...."
Why is the ALBUM called Circus:
"I like the fact you're always on the edge of your seat, when you're at a Circus, you always wanna know what's gonna happen next, and you're never bored. You're so entertained and you're just really engulfed in what's going on around you and you wanna be aware and you wanna know what's gonna happen next."
And what do you mean "she wasn't into it"? What are you? Britney's psychic? She seemed fine? It was actually one of the most personable interviews this era.

Being delusional in the moment and actual being a delusional person are two different things, thanks. Anyways, you're still not getting it. Britney talked about this album in July with OK! and it seemed like an entirely different album came out. The tons of producers who talked about working on the album with Britney all of a sudden disappeared. Watching the Circus Bonus DVD and she only got excited about "Circus" (song) and workin gon the video, because I truly think she enjoys that song.
Also only the singles were apart of the setlist in the tour, whilst Blackout and In The Zone were prominent. Compared to her interviews on In The Zone and her overall aura she wasn't as into Circus descriptions as those. HELL, even the one little random Blackout interview with Ryan Seacrest she sounded more intrigued. It seems she hardly had a clue what to say about the album half the time.
Her description of the album name sounds more like describing the actual tour, which she obviously had a large say in. And she has said almost the exact same thing about the tour before, so yeah. The album isn't shocking at all, so why would that eve fit it. It was a typical Pop album, not like adventurous or experimental as ITZ or Blackout. That's why it's so mediocre to her fans, growing off, and even her herself. "Mmm Papi" and "Mannequin" (two songs she wrote) were the only song that shocked or were different. While "Unusual You" and "Blur" also were different, but she was working with her favorite producers too so obviously they developed that chemistry to do that. Everything else was typical.
And please don't get all smartass with me just 'cuz I said delusional. Just like you can say she loved it, I can say I believe she hated it. WHO ARE YOU? No different. I know Britney, and this album/era wasn't Britney besides the tour and video ideas.
Like Rico said, the fact that she only performed 3 songs from the album and most of the setlist was made up of ITZ and Blackout show that Britney didn't feel the album. Circus is nothing more than average.
For me the 'Circus' album was incredible! It's given me classic Britney tracks like Womanizer, Circus, If U Seek Amy, Out From Under, Kill The Lights, Unusual You, Mennequin & Phongraphy I think individually all the tracks are fantastic, but they just didn't gel together as well as the tracks on Blackout and Circus which are more like 'albums' for me. It's like a musical experience rather than Circus which is more of collection of songs. That's how I've always looked at it anyway
I know where almost all of you are coming from, Blackout was top-notch project and anything that succeeds after, even with a just a point backward will come out as mediocre. Thus, Circus was commonly viewed as an average project but it ain't THAT bad. It yielded amazing tracks and started a strong impression. The only flaw I could see Circus had was the lack of Britney's personal attachment to the album. Britney's hostility reflects to mass reception of Circus. If only she could have at least participate in a fair numbers of Circus promotional junctions, overall Circus era would have a different story.
Nothing to complain on my part, though. I've got a lot of Britney stuffs this year, especially the Circus Tour.
i dun think circus(album) shouldve been nominated but i do think circus song deserved a nomination..and well we all no the grammy will be for either gaga or bep
