Those ST docs were my absolute favorite...it just showed the personal growth & insight of a woman who is free & liberated. somebody who has started out as a teen and has been in the business 15+ years and has been through the ups & downs. She has the right head on her shoulders & she's in control. ST is truly her most personal & insightful work...hands down...thats why I don't like when ppl ignorantly minimize it as some sex album. its way more than that. but even those sex songs have a meaning... as she said...she felt stifled about how far she could go always being mindful of her image & children who listen to her. but her fans that have been there with her since '97 are grown up now. it reminds me of when she did "Obsessed"...there was supposed to be a sex scene w/ her & Idris in the original script but she took it out to be mindful of her audience. as filthy as "Partition" is...the song is a fantasy...as Bey explained...she just had Blue & was feeling out of sorts just as most women. but she's still a wife and was trying to get her mojo back and thinking these thoughts. i think this is a story of most wives/mothers who can relate to focusing on their new baby too much & trying to get the spice back with their husbands.
even though "pretty hurts" may not be the world's greatest song...i respect what the song itself represented to her & why she thought it was necessary to include on her album. every song had a purpose here....i just wish we got to hear about EVERY song.
I remember how the comments on partition went from negative to positive as people learned that choosing to display your body doesn't take away from you as a person. Even the pretty hurts comments turned around as people finally realized she wasn't saying I'm so pretty and it hurts to be this gorgeous but instead the standard of beauty hurts everyone, those trying to achieve and those that have to maintain it to stay desirable
my adoration for the sentiment and meaning behind PH makes me "like" it somewhat more. Although I do feel it's kinda out of place when I go through the entire album.
Haunted makes as a perfect opener.
on a sidenote: I do love the video too. So well shot and she's so gorgeous in it.
Yea the message is great but the production and vocals were a little messy, the end of the song with the climax makes up for it a bit

The spoken part at the end of partition is so genius
"men think that feminists hate sex but it’s an exciting and natural activity that women love"

People really underrated how amazing that song is, like Beyoncé made partition. A song about ****ing around in the backseat of the limo, none of their faves could touch the video
"Do you like sex?
Sex, I mean: physical activity, coitus. You like it?
Are you not interested in sex?
Men think that feminists hate sex but it’s an exciting and natural activity that women love."

That woman's name is Marni and she is styling the Super Bowl. She did the Tidal 1020 concert which I really didn't like the styling of soo
I dont want no ponytail no pink no yellow no popping colors and i dont want no dark makeup and sleepy hair like SB 2013 (i think she wanted to have her hair like the dancers on one side and she changed it last minute which wAs a good idea but it felt so not voluminous)
