I'm not from the US either, it's just that the Twilight wave was huge (this is how I came across them) and they had a sort of established worldwide fanbase before.
Twilight was my first interaction with them as well, but I do think that they had some moderate success here before then. I think i've never really had a true angsty phase so that kind of stopped me from getting into that style of music.
I like them now though!

Wait, really!? Almost everyone I know from the U.S. said that they were basically a staple in their middle school and high school years. That's fascinating.
Ok one last song for today, thank you for being patient.
After this I will post all the results up to now in the OP so people can see them and get caught up. I'll also follow this with an updated list of what's left. Even if you disagree with the results, I can say that the winner was nearly unanimous.
For some reason I'm finding more and more I am loving this Hole stuff. I don't know what it is.
Well the grungy style of this song is probably what drew me in.
When it kind of suddenly changes into more passion in the delivery >>
The "some day you will ache like I ache" is fantastic, this might be my favourite Hole single as well (basically I'm thinking I need to get ON this album)

That doesn't surprise me. The sales figures can't account for how they resonated with a generation that grew up with their music. But their early appeal was certainly more of an emo niche.

Looking at the results, I'm so surprised that YYYs are the front-runners since I felt like they were a weaker link (I knew Hole would be dragged from the start). On the contrary who I thought would be owning this rate - No Doubt - have some fairly expected picks.
Let's do smaller updates of 5 from here on out? I'll send PM reminders since I think they are the most effective.
Um how did I only give Down boy a 7.5? It's easily a strong 8 to me...
Decode is kinda corny but I it's my favorite Paramore song in the rate aside from the obviosu favorite.
In every rate there is one song that kind of slides its way into the top half.
I feel like its this one. No one was really dragging it, but I don't feel like it deserves this place.
Certainly not higher than several of the songs we've had to say goodbye to!
Plus they could use a bit of levelling out (even though I love YYYs)
Really average track to me.I didn't dislike it but I wouldn't ever actively seek it out to listen to it again
I didn't like Settle Down at first but it grew on me

Yeah same! I think an 8 would've been a better score from me but I don't really regret it since it made it quite far.
Another No Doubt track up next! Kind of surprised this wasn't in the top ten.
This was my first ever No Doubt song. Way back when it would air on MuchMusic, my cousins and I would love to watch it because of the craziness how she systematically murders everyone. Safe to say that got me hooked on the song.
I always assumed this was one of their most popular tracks.
